ABSTRACT
In modern society, most people want to have a dazzling “Hollywood” smile, so the issues of safety and comfort of clinical teeth whitening are becoming more relevant. There are many studies on the effect of clinical whitening on tooth enamel, but such aspects as the gradation of the influence of whitening systems on the manifestation of tooth sensitivity, as well as the dynamics of microcirculation of the pulp of teeth after these manipulations have been studied insufficiently. This article presents the results of a study of the effect of clinical whitening on the complex dynamics in hard tissues and microcirculation of dental pulp.
The aim of the study. To study the effect of various methods of clinical whitening on the complex dynamics in hard tissues and pulp of teeth.
Objects and methods. The study involved 60 patients (3 groups of 20 people), each of whom underwent professional oral hygiene before teeth whitening, clinical teeth whitening using various methods and devices (without light activation of the gel – Opalescence Boost, with gel activation with a UV source – ZOOM Advanced Power, laser photodynamic whitening Smart Bleach 3LT), with step-by-step recording of microcirculation status of dental pulp by ultrasound dopplerography (Doppler ultrasound) on a Minimax-Doppler-K apparatus and nkoya people sensitivity change enamel hardware method Yeaple Probe.
Results and discussion. All the used teeth whitening methods did not cause long-term (more than three days) or irreversible changes in the hypersensitivity of the hard tissues of the teeth. The use of ultrasound dopplerography revealed the features of microcirculation of the pulp of the teeth when using various methods of whitening.
Conclusion. The smallest increase in tooth sensitivity according to the results of Yeaple Probe was observed when using devices operating on LED in combination with “green” light from a KPT laser. The least effect on tooth pulp, according to Doppler ultrasound, is recorded in patients who used whitening with a photodynamic laser – in patients of these groups the least pronounced dynamics of microcirculatory indices was observed, which was expressed in an increase in speed indices by no more than 0% (Vam) and 2% (Qam) respectively.
