ABSTRACT
The diseases of the oral mucosa in the structure of dental pathology, depending on the nosological forms of the lesion and their clinical manifestations, range from 5 to 75 %. The condition of the oral mucosa is a “marker” of the patient’s physical health, and its changes often precede and/or are the clinical symptom of the underlying disease. Classifications are considered as systems for diagnosing (evaluating) of the oral mucosa. Various changes in the mucosa, determined by visual examination, are usually systematized on the basis of morphological, clinical and other characteristics. The most common classifications of pathological conditions and diseases that manifest themselves in the oral mucosa, accepted in the world and the Republic of Belarus, are: international classification of diseases (ICD-10, 1997); clinical and morphological; clinical and others.
Conclusion. Knowledge of the clinical classifications of the oral mucosa by a dentist makes it possible to conduct differential diagnostics of the lesion, establish a diagnosis, determine the scope and sequence of treatment and preventive measures in interdisciplinary cooperation with medical specialists.
