ABSTRACT
Digital technologies have become an integral part of human daily life. This article studies the effectiveness of diagnostic programmes based on artificial intelligence and compares these programmes with clinical examination when planning complex treatment of dental patients.
The aim of the study. To evaluate the effectiveness of diagnostic programs based on artificial intelligence («Shining 3D», «Diagnocat») with clinical examination when planning orthopedic treatment in dental patients.
Objects and methods. The study involved 30 patients (10 men and 20 women) aged 18 to 65 years with increased tooth wear combined with partial adentia, who underwent diagnostic procedures according to the clinical protocols of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. All patients underwent cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the vertical and natural head positions using the Planmeca Romexis Viewer. The tomography results were analyzed by the Diagnocat artificial intelligence. Then, the patients underwent intraoral jaw scanning with digital scan analysis in the Shining 3D program.
Results and discussion. The analysis showed that AI-based programs scan all areas of the teeth in a short period of time and generate a detailed report on the patient’s dental health. An AI-based program makes it possible to make a diagnosis by providing a software report.
Conclusion.  Diagnostic programs based on artificial intelligence, based on the results of comparing timekeeping with a clinical examination, reduce the time for analyzing clinical examination data by 1.8 times. According to the evaluation results, the effectiveness of diagnostic programs based on artificial intelligence («Shining 3D», «Diagnocat») was 73 %.
