ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. To analyze the structure of the currently performed studies on the development of atraumatic approaches to tooth extraction surgery and to identify the list of unresolved issues of their effectiveness in relation to the preservation of peri-dental tissues.
Objects and methods. Two queries were generated in PubMed to analyze the literature on the structure of research on the development of atraumatic approaches to tooth extraction surgery: 1) tooth extraction surgery; 2) atraumatic tooth extraction. The first 100 consecutive sources of both the first and second queries were analyzed. A descriptive method was used for the analysis.
Results and discussion. Of the total number of analyzed works (200), the share of those published within the last five years is 44 %, within the last 10 years – 64%, within fifteen years – 82 %. Of these, the following groups can be distinguished. Articles containing the data of experimental studies – 15.5 %. Works containing the results of clinical studies – 67.0 %. Including the articles devoted to: preservation of the alveolar ridge – 11.0 %; tooth extraction surgery itself – 56.0 %; third molar extraction – 12.0 %; new instruments for tooth extraction – 8.0 %; tooth replantation and autotransplantation – 6.0 %; new devices for tooth extraction, their medical safety and prevention of complications – 8.0 %; postoperative patient care – 3.0 %; anesthesia during surgery – 1.5 %.
Conclusion. All the above mentioned in aggregate convince us of the necessity to conduct a purposeful complex research aimed at the development, scientific substantiation and introduction into the daily practice of dental surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons of the device intended for minimally invasive tooth extraction and methods of its use.
Keywords: tooth extraction surgery, atraumatic surgical intervention, mucosa, jawbone, surgical techniques, instruments for tooth extraction
