ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. To evaluate the effectiveness of correction of anomalies in the position of the frontal group of teeth with a system of orthodontic aligners using computer 3D analysis.
Objects and methods. The study involved 11 patients of both sexes with anomalies in the position of individual teeth, the average age of which was 29 years. Orthodontic treatment was carried out using an aligner system. All patients were compared with a scanned model of the dentition and a model of the dentition in Stl format, according to which the mouthguard was made, at each stage of changing orthodontic mouthguards in the Maestro 3D Dental Studio computer program in the 3D Comparison module in the measurement range from – 0.3 to 0.3 mm.
Results and discussion. 45.4 % of treated patients, significant deviations (SD “2”) were observed, in 36.4 % of patients, minor deviations (SD “1”) were detected, 18.2 % of patients completed treatment without deviations (SD “0”) from the programmed position of the teeth after wearing the full set of aligners. The median value at step 12 for the first appearance of minor deviations (SD “1”) means that in half of the patients, the discrepancies between the actual and planned position of the teeth go beyond the ideal range by this stage. This will allow timely detection of the error, preventing the transition of minor deviations (SD “1”) to significant ones (SD “2”), which occurred at step 21 (Me).
Conclusion.  Computer 3D analysis made it possible to effectively carry out a quantitative assessment of the discrepancies between the actual and planned positions of the teeth at the stages of traditional treatment with the orthodontic aligners system. At the end of wearing the full set of aligners, 3D monitoring showed significant deviations from the programmed position of the teeth. Based on the results of traditional treatment with the orthodontic aligners system, it is recommended to carry out a mandatory planned 3D analysis, which will allow for timely adjustment of the treatment plan, reduce the duration of orthodontic treatment and increase the percentage of successful completion of treatment.
