ABSTRACT
Choosing a treatment strategy for patients with root fractures presents challenges for dentists, as there are a number of specific considerations that require an individualized approach not only when choosing an immobilization method but also when performing invasive pulp interventions, depending on the specific clinical situation.
The aim of the study. To examine the errors and complications that arise during the treatment of teeth with root fractures.
Objects and methods. In accordance with the aim of the study, a visual assessment and analysis of the treatment quality of 65 vital teeth with root fractures were performed in 65 patients.
Results and discussion. An analysis of the causes of complications associated with adhesive dental splinting revealed errors associated with underestimating a combination of factors affecting treatment outcome: untimely splinting of the injured tooth; incomplete repositioning of the coronal fragment of the tooth; poor hygiene; the formation of traumatic nodes in the area of the splinted teeth due to improper splinting or non-compliance with the occlusal diet by the patient; undiagnosed pulp inflammation or necrosis; unjustified endodontic treatment of the tooth. Removal of the apical fragment and a tooth with a root fracture, as well as errors that arise during the stages of endodontic treatment.
Conclusion. Treating teeth with root fractures involves addressing a number of issues: high-quality repositioning, reliable immobilization, minimally invasive endodontic treatment within the coronal fragment of the tooth with a root fracture, and preservation of the apical fragment to prevent destructive changes in the apical periodontal tissues.
