ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. To simplify the standard surgical protocol for sinus lift surgery, reducing the risks of complications and the cost of the intervention.
Objects and methods. Over the past ten years (from 2005 to 2015), we have performed about 1,300 operations to lift the mucous membrane of the maxillary sinus and simultaneously install about 2,500 dental implants in this area. In the preoperative period, all patients were examined X-ray (CBCT) with assessment of the width and height of the alveolar ridge, study of the anatomical features of the relief of the floor of the maxillary sinus, and measurement of bone tissue density in Hounsfield units (HU).
Results and discussion. Our experience has shown the possibility of achieving primary implant stability with an alveolar ridge height of 1.5-2.0 mm and, of course, with certain manual skills and the use of conical implant systems. According to our data, the “survival rate” of implants averaged 98.5  %, which correlates with the research results of many modern scientists.
Conclusion. The modified technique has a number of advantages: we simplify the operating protocol, reduce trauma, soften the course of the postoperative period and reduce the number of complications.
