Conceptual aspects of the principles of periodontal surgery

ABSTRACT
The 6 basic principles of periodontal surgery (PS) in planning and conducting complex periodontology are presented.
The aim of the study. To outline the conceptual aspects of the basic principles of periodontology and to assess the feasibility of their observance in complex periodontology.
Objects and methods. Based on 40 years of experience, a concept of the mechanism of development of periodontal diseases was developed, and based on this, the basic principles of periodontal surgery in complex periodontology were determined.
Results and discussion. Six basic principles of periodontal surgery are outlined: indications and contraindications for periodontal surgery; features of patient preparation for periodontal surgery; choice of the method of periodontal surgery; targeted ergonomic conditions for periodontal surgery; features of evaluation of treatment results; features of diagnostic and therapeutic and preventive measures in the maintenance period of treatment after periodontal surgery.
Conclusion. Compliance with the basic principles of periodontal surgery makes it possible to effectively carry out complex treatment of patients with periodontal diseases in 98 % of cases.
