ABSTRACT
The urgency of the problem is due to the fact that among injuries to the facial skeleton, the most common are fractures of the lower jaw, accounting, according to domestic and foreign clinics, from 70 % to 85 % of cases.
The aim of the study. Increasing the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of complications of mandibular fractures based on a retrospective analysis of care provided to patients with mandibular fractures, identifying the frequency of mandibular fractures.
Objects and methods. Data from the archive and automated information system of the 11th City Clinical Hospital in Minsk for 2021-2023 was retrospectively analyzed.
Results and discussion. During the analyzed period, 776 patients with a diagnosis of S02.6 Fracture of the lower jaw were treated at the 11th City Clinical Hospital in Minsk. Surgical treatment was performed in 30.8 % of patients.
Conclusion. Treatment of mandibular fractures is a pressing problem in modern maxillofacial surgery. Choosing the right treatment tactics for this pathology (orthopedic, surgical or combined methods) allows to achieve good results and avoid complications. The presented clinical case demonstrates the tactics of treating an incorrectly consolidated fracture of the lower jaw and emphasizes the importance of diagnosis and timely surgical treatment of fractures of the lower jaw with displacement of bone fragments when it is impossible to reduce them using orthopedic methods. Incorrect treatment tactics in the prehospital and early hospital periods lead to persistent aesthetic and functional defects, causing a deterioration in the patient’s quality of life and his social maladjustment.
