ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. Тo conduct a comparative analysis of the various types of gingival mucosal augmentation using local tissues around dental implants.
Objects and methods. The study involved 28 patients undergoing soft tissue augmentation. Group 1 underwent a two-stage alveolar ridge reconstruction using soft tissue from the hard palate and maxillary tuberosity in a “patch” technique. In Group 2, a soft tissue graft was augmented using a narrow strip harvested from the maxillary tuberosity and hard palate.
Results and discussion. The follow-up results after 4 months showed the following: patients in Groups 1 and 2 had attached, keratinized gingival mucosa in the area in implants with a well-defined gingival cuff, there were no inflammatory processes in the soft tissues surrounding the implant.
Conclusion. Based on the study, it can be concluded that augmentation is indicated in cases of insufficient attached keratinized gingiva with a horizontal alveolar ridge defect in the area of dental implantation.
