ABSTRACT
One of the most frequent coronavirus infection clinical manifestations is the loss or change in taste. Knowledge of the main COVID-19 clinical manifestations in the oral cavity contributes to the earliest diagnosis of this disease.
The aim of the study. To determine the main coronavirus infection clinical manifestations in the oral cavity. To establish the relationship between the oral manifestations of COVID-19 and the severity of this infection.
Objects and methods. In the course of the study, we collected and analyzed information from 133 literary sources published in the period from 2020 to the present. For the analysis, we selected publications that provide information on the features of the coronavirus infection manifestationsin the oral cavity and the establishment of the relationship between COVID-19 oral manifestations and the severity of the infection course.
Results and discussion. In the course of this study, we identified a lack of data on a comprehensive clinical, immunological and microbiological assessment of diseases of the oral mucosa and periodontal associated with COVID-19. Effective methods of clinical and laboratory oral mucosa and periodontal diseases diagnostics in patients who have undergone COVID-19 have not been developed. Indications, prognostic signs and the volume of therapeutic measures in this category of patients have not been determined.
Conclusion. For a deeper and more detailed study of the therapeutic measures complex in this patient’s category, it is advisable to conduct studies that, during regular long-term follow-up, will improve the results of patients with COVID-19 treatment.
