ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. Development of modern clinical protocols for dentin sensitivity (DS) with a demonstration of the feasibility of their use.
Objects and methods. Patients were divided into 2 groups, differing in the form of DS. The patients of the 1st group with true DS (153 people) and the 2nd group with symptomatic DS (76 people) were treated according to the clinical protocol. After the treatment, control examinations and maintenance therapy were performed after 1 week, 1-6-12-24 months. The effectiveness of treatment was evaluated based on the number of good, satisfactory and unsatisfactory results of treatment in each group.
Results and discussion. The results of clinical observation of patients with true DS showed a pronounced therapeutic effect with the use of resin-containing drugs that reduce the sensitivity of dentin (desensitizers) and salt-containing remineralizing drugs (calcium glycerophosphate, fluorides), or their combination; according to indications – vitamin D, as well as physiotherapy treatment (vacuum darsonvalization or laser therapy, etc.). Patients with symptomatic DS selectively included a consultation with a general practitioner and a neurologist, and a psychotherapist, and an endocrinologist. After treatment noted an acceleration of the positive effect (in terms of subjective sensations and a scale of pain sensitivity, P < 0.05), an improvement in periodontal microcirculation (in terms of the index of peripheral circulation, P < 0.05), long periods of remission (according to the results of dynamic observation).
Conclusion. The totality of the results obtained on the clinical effectiveness of the use of clinical protocols for
dentin sensitivity showed good therapeutic results in two groups in the long-term follow-up period in 97% of patients, which is the basis for their use in practical healthcare.
Keywords: clinical protocols for DS, classification of DS, basic and additional methods for diagnosing and treating DS
