The relationship and interdependence of increased tooth abrasion with musculoskeletal dysfunctions. Part 1

ABSTRACT
The multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of dental patients involves a set of measures aimed at restoring the functions and aesthetics of the chewing and speech apparatus, the ultimate goal of which is to restore and preserve the health of the population.
The aim of the study. To identify the relationship and interdependence of increased tooth abrasion with musculoskeletal dysfunctions as the basis for developing the recommendations for practical healthcare in the context of modern clinical protocols.
Objects and methods. The patients underwent cone-beam computed tomography of the dental arches in the usual occlusion with the capture of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) area, electromyographic and ultrasound examinations. To identify the degree of resistance to stress and the degree of stress load, as well as the severity of symptoms of anxiety and depression, appendices 3 and 4 were filled in according to the recommendations of clinical protocols for the diagnosis and treatment of patients (adult population) with increased tooth wear and diseases of the temporomandibular joint.
Results and discussion. The relationship between increased tooth erasure and TMJ diseases, with muscular parafunctions and periodontal diseases, the correlation of increased tooth erasure with the degree of anxiety and depression and stress resistance has been established.
Conclusion.  Based on the results of the study, a relationship and interdependence of increased tooth wear with muscular-articular dysfunctions was established, which made it possible to include hardware treatment to normalize the functions of the masticatory-speech apparatus and obtain effective treatment results with an improved prognosis for the course of the disease.
