Immunohistochemical and biochemical parameters of osteogenesis in the treatment of experimental peri-implantitis

ABSTRACT
The long-term functioning of dental implants depends on the condition of the bone tissue around them. The main causes of the loss of dental implants are mucositis and peri-implantitis, the prevention and treatment of which remains an unsolved problem of implantology.
The aim of the study. To study the immunohistochemical and biochemical parameters of the dynamics of regenerate formation when calcium hydroxyapatite and β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) modified with hyaluronic acid (HA) are injected into the peri-implant region.
Objects and methods. Experimental modeling of peri-implantitis in sheep was carried out with an assessment of immunohistochemical and biochemical parameters of bone tissue regeneration within 14 days, 1, 3 and 6 months after implant placement.
Results and discussion. In the control group (where the wound was carried out under a blood clot), osteointegrative processes occur by rearranging lamellar bone tissue into reticulofibrous and back into lamellar tissue, reaching maximum intensity towards the end of the experiment (180 days). In the main observation group, where calcium hydroxyapatite and TCP modified with hyaluronic acid were used, a distinctive feature of the reparative process by the 30-60 days was the specific neuroendocrine differentiation of cells of neuroectodermal origin, which indicates the activation of the processes of neo- and angiogenesis.
Conclusion. The combination of calcium hydroxyapatite and TCP modified with hyaluronic acid can be recommended for clinical use in the daily practice of an implantologist surgeon, given the high osseointegrative potential, relatively low cost and high prevalence of the components of the composition.
