Conflicts in orthopedic gerontostomatology and their prevention

ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. To analyze the reasons that influenced the appearance of conflicts in gerontostomatology due to the provision of dental orthopedic care.
Objects and methods. The work was carried out on the basis of the analysis of materials of 42 commission forensic examinations, the reason for which were the results of dental orthopedic rehabilitation (dental prosthetics) of 28 patients aged from 61 to 78 years.
Results and discussion. In our study, forensic medical examination in connection with the provision of dental orthopedic care on dental implants, i.e. in connection with implant dentures, was carried out not often (9.5 %). In the vast majority of cases, claims for dental prosthetics were filed by patients who received this type of medical care for a fee. In 35.7 % of cases, patients complained about the appearance of pain symptoms from the temporomandibular joint, less frequently from the masticatory muscles, during or after the completion of dental prosthetic rehabilitation. It was noted that defects in the execution of primary medical documentation were identified in 100 %. In 7.1 % of cases there were no such complaints about the poor quality of dental prostheses and defects in dental orthopedic care, and the complaints were due to the reduced adaptation and adaptive features of the elderly person’s organism, as well as mental features of his personality.
Conclusion.  In order to prevent complaints in gerontostomatological practice, it is advisable to make a detailed clinical diagnosis before starting dental prosthetic treatment. At the same time, it is appropriate to present the patient with an alternative treatment plan, which allows the patient to choose effective dental prostheses for dental rehabilitation.
