ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with a pronounced analgesic effect for relieving pain in patients with periodontal diseases.
Objects and methods. The clinical study involved 62 practically healthy patients with chronic generalized simple periodontitis of moderate severity and dentin sensitivity. Patients in the main group received a single therapy with dispersed tablets “Ketorol Insta” 15 minutes before professional oral hygiene, while in the control group pain relief was achieved by performing infiltration anesthesia with 4% Articaine solution. To assess the severity of pain, we used collection of complaints and the verbal rating scale (NRS), as well as a complex index of differentiated tooth sensitivity CIDTS (L. N. Dedova, 2004).
Results and discussion. The drug “Ketorol Insta” helped to reduce pain in 100% of patients while performing professional hygiene, and after these measures, it allowed to accelerate the reduction of postoperative sensitivity by an average of 4 days.
Conclusion. Drug therapy with ≪Ketorol Insta≫ is safe and effective. ≪Ketorol Insta≫ can be recommended for use in the practice of a dentist-periodontist.
