ABSTRACT
Aim of the study is to determine the clinical efficiency of prosthetics for patients with complete upper jaw edentulous with the use of full removable laminar dentures based on digital implants.
Objects and methods. The object of the research were 35 volunteers aged 45–60 years old with full adentia of the upper jaw. In the first group of 20 patients, the traditional manufacture of a complete removable laminar denture on the upper jaw was
performed. In the second group, 15 patients received full removable laminar dentures on the upper jaw based on dental implants using digital technologies. The treatment plan for patients of the second group envisaged the restoration of the upper jaw with a removable prosthesis based on 4–6 dental implants using a connecting beam construction. The installation of dental implants was carried out according to the traditional two-stage method with a delayed load. For the manufacture of connecting beam design used a digital protocol for CAD / CAM.
Results and discussion. In comparison with traditional methods of replacing lost teeth, the installation of dentures based on dental implants provides significant durability, more optimal function, bone preservation and, as a result, less likelihood of psychological consequences. The use of dental implants for fixing removable dentures according to the method proposed by us increases the chewing efficiency compared to traditional removable prosthetics by 45%, and also makes it possible to almost completely restore the motive and tonic activity of the masticatory muscles. From the point of view of the effectiveness of the restoration of lost functions, prevention of atrophy and osteoporosis of the jaws, as well as for social adaptation, the proposed method can be considered as one of the most acceptable ways to rehabilitate patients with complete adentia.
Conclusion. The use of digital computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD / CAM) technology in the manufacture of connecting beam structures based on dental implants provides advantages to the manufacturing process, providing better predictability of the desired results and high precision manufacturing of the dental prosthesis.
