ABSTRACT
The article presents the results of the study of the strength characteristics of screw fixation of orthopedic components to dental implants with a planar type of connection.
The aim of the study. To study in the experiment the strength characteristics of screw fixation of orthopedic components to dental implants with a planar type of connection under cyclic loading conditions simulating functional loads in the oral cavity.
Objects and methods. An experimental study of the connection in the dental implant-abutment system was carried out in a laboratory setup at the Institute of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The principle of operation of the installation is based on the study of the strength characteristics of the tested samples under cyclic mechanical actions. Under experimental conditions, the strength characteristics of screw fixation of orthopedic components to 24 dental implants from Ti-6Al-4V alloy with a diameter of 3.75 mm and a length of 11.5 mm with a planar type of connection were evaluated, which were divided into 4 groups (n = 6) depending on from the angle of loading and force of impact.
Results and discussion. It is established that changes in the system “orthopedic construction – dental implant” take place on the new experimental model after the cyclic impact of the dosed mechanical load. Moreover, the magnitude of the changes is directly dependent on the location of the screw connection, the point of physical impact, the number of loading cycles and the angle of impact of the load. The greatest changes occur with the 2nd and 3rd screw connection due to the close location to the point of application of force.
Conclusions. A new experimental model was developed, manufactured and tested to assess the strength characteristics of the screw fixation of orthopedic components to dental implants. A significant decrease in the connection depth and the degree of clamping of orthopedic screws after experimental loading was revealed, they are most significantly expressed in the 2nd and 3rd screw connections of the experimental model. The expressed correlation dependence (r = 0,73; r = 0.91) with an increase in the angle and number of loading cycles to 200 000, the fatigue accumulation of orthopedic structures increases by 1.78 times.
