ABSTRACT
The aim of the study. The aim of this research was to evaluate some biochemical parameters in a subchronic experiment of determination of toxicity of an experimental mixture (EM) for arresting caries treatment.
Objects and methods. The object of the study was 36 healthy random-branded white weaner rat males (males) weighing 120–130 g, age 8–12 weeks. To assess the cumulative effect, animals were repeatedly (20 times) intragastrically administrated proposed EM in the form of a 50% aqueous suspension in doses of 1/10, 1/20 and 1/50 of DL50 (more than 5000 mg / kg); control animals received distilled water in equivalent amounts. EM components were hydroxyapatite (AC371260010, AcrosOrganics), 38% SDF solution (Onecomponent Argenate, VladMiVa) and 10% povidone-iodine solution (Betadine, EGIS) in the ratio of 1 gram of hydroxyapatite, 0.3 ml of the SD Fsolution and 10.97 ml of iodine solution. At the end of the experiment, blood was collected from all animals, centrifuged, followed by determination of content of glucose and phosphorus, as well as activity of lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, asparagine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and gamma glutathione transferase.
Results and discussion. It was found that at the end of the experiment to study the cumulative effect of EM in the blood serum of experimental animals, the glucose content and the activity of lactate dehydrogenase did not differ from the control group. When studying the cumulative effect of EM under conditions of repeated intragastric administration, statistically significant differences in the activity of aminotransferases (alanine and asparagine) in the blood serum of weaning rats were not found. At the end of a subchronic experiment to study the toxicity of EM in the blood serum of laboratory animals, its effect on the phosphorus content, activity of alkaline phosphatase and gamma glutathione transferase was not established.
Conclusion. Studies have shown that there was no influence of EM on the analyzed biochemical parameters and serve as an argument in favor of the safety of its clinical use.
