ABSTRACT
Erythema multiforme (L51. 0) is an acute, often recurrent disease of the skin and mucous membranes with a pronounced polymorphism of symptoms, which tends to seasonal rashes and recurrent course. It is formed as a result of severe systemic (immunocomplex) allergic reaction of delayed type with characteristic secondary changes in the skin and mucous membranes. Erythema multiforme is observed in the following forms-infectious-allergic (idiopathic), including herpes-associated and toxic-allergic (symptomatic).
The aim of study. The aim of study was to analyze the results of observation of clinical cases of manifestations on the
oral mucosa and the border of erythema multiforme.
Objects and methods. Patients with clinical manifestations of erythema polyforme with localization of lesion elements on the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and lip border asked for advice to the Associate Professor of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry and Associate Professor of the Department of Surgical Dentistry. For examination, clarification of the preliminary diagnosis and choice of treatment tactics, consultation was conducted by the staff of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry and Orthodontics with the course of Pediatric Dentistry. The study presents clinical cases of detection depending on the prevalence of etiopathogenetic factor of erythema multiforme infectious-allergic (idiopathic), including herpes-associated, toxicoallergic (symptomatic).
Results and discussion. As a result of the study, it was found that the severity of the disease is mainly due to the defeat of the oral mucosa.
Conclusions.. Erythema multiforme belongs to the category of fairly rare diseases in dental practice, but the non-standard of its clinical manifestations in the oral cavity, the complexity of diagnosis and severity of the course deserves the attention of dentists of outpatient care and hospital.
