ABSTRACT
Lichen planus is a common dermatosis with clinical manifestations on the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.
The aim of the study to develop a method of treatment and prevention of “complicated” forms of oral lichen planus and evaluate its effectiveness.
Objects and methods. Prospective clinical examination of 57 patients with “complicated” (exudativehyperemic, bullous, erosive-ulcerative and atypical) for the period 2012-2016 years. The median age of patients with oral lichen planus was 56.4 ± 1.5 years; the duration of the course of “complicated” forms of the disease was 30.2 ± 8.0 months. All patients are divided into 2 groups depending on the treatment method used: the first (n = 33) – the main study groups in which the treatment of oral lichen planus was performed in accordance with the method developed by us; the 2nd (n = 24) – comparison groups, with treatment according to the protocols of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.
Results and discussion. When analyzing the results of treatment of complicated forms of Lichen planus, it was found that after 1 month from the start of treatment, a complicated form of the disease turned into uncomplicated in the 1st group in 46.9 ± 8.9% of cases compared with 12.5 ± 6.9% in the 2nd group and an increase in the duration of the remission period (11.5 ± 1.04 and 7.0 ± 1.32 months) was detected.
Conclusion. The method of treatment and prophylaxis developed by us, which takes into account the clinical form and degree of severity of the disease, focused on the individual approach in prescribing local and systemic drugs is significantly more effective than the standard method of treating the disease.
