ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to evaluate the regenerative possibilities of three-dimensional titanium meshes attached to dental implants as a barrier membrane for restoration of alveolar ridge bone tissue during complex surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with dentition defects.
Objects and methods. For clinical evaluation of implant-supported titanium mesh as a barrier membrane for regeneration of bone defects, horizontal and vertical augmentation, a standard three-dimensional preformed titanium mesh was used simultaneously with dental implants placement (Neobiotech, Korea). At the preparatory stage before surgery, the standard titanium mesh was individualized depending on the topography and the extent of the bone defect, followed by its fixation to the dental implants above a spacer.
Results and discussion. When the implants were opened to remove the titanium meshes and to place healing caps, a regenerated bone covered with fibrous tissue was found under the meshes. All implants were integrated without any complications and were functional.
Conclusion. A clinical evaluation of treatment results confirmed high efficacy of three-dimensional titanium meshes fixed to dental implants as barrier membranes for improving the regeneration of alveolar ridge bone tissue in complex surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with dentition defects of the upper jaw.
